Holistic Counseling

Holistic counseling heals by building a therapeutic alliance, trust and relationship.  It builds upon the strength and pervasiveness of one's wellness and focuses on the removal of obstacles to happiness rather than on pathology or story.

My therapeutic style is informed by 38 years study of Transpersonal Psychology and meditative practice, expanded upon by study with David Burns in Cognitive Psychology, Certification in EMDR, Employee Assistance, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Addictions,  and specialties in the treatment of trauma, internal family systems (“parts” work),  and the psychodynamic insights that underlie all of these, as well as Marshall Rosenberg's Non-Violent Communication.

As a Holistic Counselor, I use adjuncts, when appropriate, from energy psychology, meditative forms and relaxation techniques. As often, I utilize diet and supplement recommendations to enhance optimal mental functioning as a very viable alternative to psychotropic medication; licensure and board certification as a Functional Nutritionist allow me this privilege. As a Reiki Master Teacher, Healing Touch Practitioner, CranioSacral Therapist and Yoga Therapist, I also have the option for somatic work as a further adjunct if a client chooses it. Each individual is unique and requires a personalized plan that we create together in therapeutic alliance. My studies in anatomy, physiology, energy, pathology, therapeutic yoga, nutrition, CranioSacral Therapy and massage allow me to assess individuals holistically to form the optimally integrated plan.

"I have known & used Katie Tandon as my EAP counselor for nearly four years.Although my experience (separating & seeking a divorce after 27 years) was painful I know that I could not have been able to get through it all without the help, support and counsel provided me by Katie. ...." see more testimonials
